From farms to pantries

LOOK. Fresh harvest from San Jose Del Monte farmers out for delivery to pantries in Maginhawa St. Matatag St., UP Campus, Krus na Ligas, South Triangle, Laging Handa, Tomas Morato, Tatalon, Payatas, Batasan, Samson Road, Don Antonio, Sampaloc, Pasay City, and Makati.

More than 2 tons (2,000 kilos) of rootcrops, banana heart, tomatoes, long string beans, pechay, taro, papaya, jackfruit, camote tops, lemongrass, pechay, and chilis were sourced by community pantry organizers and donors directly from the SJDM farmers through the Bagsakan Online Farmers Market. Farmers earn 300 percent more if customers buy directly from them.

More than 600 pantries inspired by the Maginhawa Community Pantry have sprouted all over the country in response to the rising hunger of Filipinos deprived of significant aid. #
