The official voting hours for the national and local elections closed at 7 PM, with thousands unable to vote due to a massive glitch with the Vote Counting Machines (VCM).
Farmers group Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP) said the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) is highly accountable for the logistical chaos that happened throughout the day as more than 1,800 VCMs hiccuped.
“Dapat managot ang COMELEC pati na ang supplier ng VCM na Smartmatic pati na ang F2 Logistics ni Dennis Uy na kroni ni Duterte. Grabeng aberya ang inabot ng eleksyon ngayong araw dahil sa kapalpakan ng COMELEC,” according to KMP leader Danilo Ramos.
“On the day of the elections, COMELEC chose to be utterly incompetent. It is disappointing that thousands were deprived of their right to vote and were disenfranchised,” the peasant leader said.
“We are wary of massive electoral fraud in favor of the Marcos-Duterte camp. As of 8:49 PM, 46.93 percent of Election Returns were transmitted according to COMELEC. How did transmission happen when there were so many faulty VCMs? Hindi pa nga nakakaboto ang maraming tao, patapos na ang bilangan” Ramos said referring to the partial and unofficial tally of votes.
The group encouraged the public to remain vigilant and ready to mount protests against massive fraud. ###
