We will never bow down to tyranny and oppression  —   farmers

The Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas today strongly condemned the violent dispersal of a peaceful protest at the Commission on Rights in time for the National Board of Canvassers’ proclamation of the Marcos-Duterte tandem.

The Philippine National Police, upon the order of PNP Chief Danao, doused rallyists with water cannons and blocked the Commonwealth Ave. leading to the House of Representatives.

“This is an ominous preview of the upcoming Marcos-Duterte regime. Hindi pa man nakakaupo sa Malacanang itong sina Bongbong at Sara, mistulang Martial Law na at bawal na ang mga mapayapang protesta at pagppahayag,” according to Rafael Mariano, chaiperson emeritus of KMP and leader of Anakpawis.

“We have all the reasons to protest and reject the Marcos-Duterte tandem. They rigged the national elections through years of disinformation, oppressive policies, and massive vote-buying. We cannot accept this tandem from hell,” Mariano added.

“The group said they are rejecting the Marcos-Duterte regime because of their track record of subjecting farmers and the rural population to unimaginable poverty and hardship. We can foresee years of hunger under this regime. Their policies will only worsen the liberalization of the domestic agriculture and plunder of our natural resources,” the KMP leader said.

KMP will continue to hold protests – protestang bukid and other forms of collective action vs the Marcos-Duterte tandem. ###
