While ruling factions from the Duterte and Marcos camps continued with their sour bickering and power struggle, farmers, rural sectors, and land reform advocates strongly oppose the legislative’s economic Charter Change (ChaCha).

KMP, Amihan, Pamalakaya, UMA and peasant advocates from the youth sector and artists will patiently explain the perils of ChaCha and the farce Peoples Initiative to commuters availing of the QC LGU’s Libreng Sakay. “Ang ginastos daw sa pagpapapirma sa budol na Peoples Initiative ay P20 milyon bawat distrito. Nagwaldas ng pera ang gobyerno habang daan-daan libong Pilipino ang araw-araw na kumakaharap sa krisis sa transportasyon.”

Farmers assert that the economic ChaCha which will allow foreign takeover and ownership of land and vital industries including education mass media and strategic public utilities will cause irreparable damage to the local economy and will further bury Filipinos in unimaginable poverty.

“Kahit nag-aaway ang mga Marcos at Duterte, pareho silang sakim sa kapangyarihan at yaman. Wala silang pakialam sa mamamayan. Kaya dapat mas malakas ang boses at mas mahigpit ang pagkakaisa ng masa kontra sa ChaCha.”

KMP said ChaCha whether through ConAss or ConCom will not benefit Filipinos nor solve the most basic social problems. “All Charter Change attempts will only serve the economic interests of foreign powers and businesses. Marcos Jr and his camp use ChaCha to slip in term extension in the PH Constitution.

“It is the responsibility of every Filipino to be aware of the current situation and oppose Charter Change.”
