Dismayed but not surprised

Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP) expressed dismay upon Comelec’s junking of an appeal to cancel presidentiable Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s certificate of candidacy today January 17, 2022. 

“We are disappointed but unsurprised by the Comelec’s ruling. We will be vigilant of the remaining disqualification cases against Marcos Jr. We insist that plunderers such as the Marcoses have no place in our ballot,” KMP National Chairperson Danilo Ramos says.

The Comelec 2nd division released its ruling on the “Buenafe et al vs Marcos” petition in favor of Marcos Jr. today. Commissioners signed on the ruling include Duterte-appointees Socorro Inting, Antonio Kho Jr. and Rey Bulay. The petitioners have expressed intent to appeal the decision. 

Comelec is still set to rule on two other disqualification cases against Marcos Jr. 

“But if the Comelec proves unwilling, we are confident that the plunderer Marcoses will be rejected by the people,” Ramos asserts.
