Farmers, fishers, women peasants, and land reform advocates protest Duterte’s greed for power and Congress’ railroading of Duterte’s ChaCha that will sell out our national patrimony, land, natural resources, and economy to foreign businesses. Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP) and Anakpawis led a picket at the House of Representatives to oppose the Congress’ railroading of ChaCha and rejection of demands for significant aid or ayuda.
In the Lower House, Duterte’s stamp pad Congress led by House Speaker Lord Allan Velasco is rushing to approve the economic Charter Change that will further open the economy to foreign plundering. Ayuda ang kailangan ng masa hindi ChaCha at pamumulitika. Farmers will not falter in demanding a P15,000 production subsidy for agri-fisheries sectors. We need aid to continue farming, fishing, and producing food for the people.
Peasant group KMP described the politicking of administration party PDP-Laban as “shameless and stomach-churning.” The PDP-Laban and Duterte’s allies are all looking at 2022 even while we are facing very evident problems that need urgent solutions from the government. The people need aid, jobs, and livelihood, faster vaccination rollout, higher budget for social services, among other demands.
While political opportunists are pledging their allegiance and support to Duterte, the public wants Duterte out of Malacanang in every way possible. Tama na, sobra na, wakasan na si Duterte.
KMP said President Duterte’s party mates from the PDP-Laban are in a shameless power struggle as they scramble to show support for Duterte’s extended reign in Malacanang. The ‘illegal’ PDP-Laban meeting assembled by Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi upon the prodding of the President himself, adopted a preposterous resolution encouraging Duterte to run for Vice-President and to choose his running mate in the 2022 national elections. Sila-sila lang ang sumusuporta kay Duterte.
The only Duterte VP that we know of is “Duterte very palpak, very pahirap, and very pasista.” On June 3, KMP will join the launching of Wakasan Na! Movement and on June 30, as sectors start a countdown for Duterte’s last year as President.
