No Peace in Imperialist War! Condemn the US Bombings in Iran!

The Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP) strongly denounce the recent US bombing of Iran — a blatant act of aggression that constitutes a serious violation of international law and an affront to the sovereignty of the Iranian people. US President Donald Trump has brazenly admitted that the US launched strikes on “three nuclear sites in Iran,” following a series of escalating hostilities in the region prompted by Israeli military activity. This unprovoked attack, coupled with continued support for Israeli military aggression and expansionism, reveals the imperialist role of the US in provoking yet another war in the Middle East.

This newest military maneuver by the US risks plunging the entire region into a large-scale conflict with devastating consequences for the global community. The timing and nature of the attack, under the guise of “defensive action,” exposes the imperialist designs of the US government — which has long sought to dominate West Asia’s strategic and resource-rich territories particularly the oil-rich and strategically critical Strait of Hormuz. Around 20% of the world’s petroleum passes through this narrow waterway, making it a chokepoint of immense geopolitical and economic importance. By escalating tensions with Iran, the US aims to tighten its grip on global energy flows and assert its influence over rival powers such as China and Russia. The farcical statement from Trump claiming “now is the time for peace” after authorizing the bombings that will effectively increase tensions not only in the Middle East but with its other imperialist adversaries underscores the hypocrisy of US foreign policy.

The US has once again used the pretense of supposed existing “weapons of mass destruction” during its invasion of Iraq — a lie that led to one of the most devastating and unjust wars of the 21st century. Despite the complete absence of such weapons, the 2003 invasion resulted in the deaths of over 1 million Iraqis, the displacement of millions more, and the destruction of the country’s infrastructure and sovereignty. Today, Washington echoes similar justifications for its bombing of Iran, citing unverified nuclear threats and framing its aggression as a preemptive defense.

The insincerity of the US in resolving nuclear tensions is further emphasized by the first Trump administration’s unilateral withdrawal from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) in 2018 — a landmark agreement aimed at curbing Iran’s nuclear program through diplomatic and verifiable means. Despite Iran’s documented compliance with the deal, as affirmed by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the US abandoned the accord and reimposed crippling sanctions, sabotaging years of multilateral diplomacy.

A key turning point in the breakdown of nuclear diplomacy was the US assassination of Iranian Quds Force commander General Qassem Soleimani in January 2020. The extrajudicial drone strike, ordered by then-President Trump, was carried out on Iraqi soil without congressional approval or international sanction — a flagrant violation of international law. This act of aggression not only brought the region to the brink of open war but also collapsed remaining trust in any US-led negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program.

KMP, as a national democratic organization of Filipino farmers, stands in solidarity with the people of Iran and the peoples of the Global South resisting US imperialism. This new aggression is not isolated — it is part of a broader imperialist framework where the US exploits, occupies, and militarizes nations for geopolitical and economic gain. The same imperialist interests that devastate the Middle East are also behind militarization, plunder, and land grabbing in the Philippines and other oppressed countries. At the same time, we challenge the Marcos Jr. administration to condemn these acts of aggression initiated by its “Big Brother”, moreover, withdraw support and complicity to US-led wars of aggression. Under the Marcos Jr. administration, Philippines has further deepened its subservience to US military interest through expanding the Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (EDCA), the placement of Typhon Missile Systems in the country, and continuing joint military drills that provoke conflict in the West Philippine Sea and terrorized and displaced farmers all over the country.

We call on all peace-loving peoples to condemn this imperialist provocation. We urge peoples movements around the world to unite against US warmongering and to demand accountability for this dangerous escalation. ###
