KMP challenges Senate Blue Ribbon to summon Escudero, Romualdez, Zaldy Co; hold all masterminds accountable, including Marcos Jr.

In a picket coinciding with the resumption of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee hearing on flood control corruption, led by Chairperson Panfilo Lacson, the Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP) urged Committee to to pursue a full and impartial investigation into the multibillion-peso flood control fund anomalies, saying the probe must summon former Senate President Chiz Escudero, former House Speaker Martin Romualdez and hold “all those involved, even President Marcos Jr fully accountable.” “Sabi ng Pangulo, habulin ang lahat ng sangkot. Kasama siya doon.”

KMP Chairperson Danilo Ramos said farmers continue to suffer from flooding, crop destruction and long-term livelihood losses while political camps benefited from pork barrel–style flood control projects. “Hindi na puwedeng paikot-ikot at paulit-ulit ang hearings. Hindi pwedeng may pagtakpan at paligtasin. The Blue Ribbon Committee must also summon presidential cousin Martin Romualdez, incumbent and former Senators implicated, and investigate the entire chain of responsibility all the way to Malacanang. Walang dapat makaligtas: lawmakers, contractors, agencies, even Marcos Jr himself as the trail of evidence points upward with the President signing all budget allocations since 2022. Farmers demand real accountability,” Ramos said.

Ramos stressed that the investigation should result in criminal charges, not another round of rhetorical hearings. “Every peso lost to corruption robbed farmers of rural infrastructure and genuine climate resilience. The country cannot keep absorbing disasters while those accountable enjoy impunity. Panagutin ang lahat ng sangkot mula taas hanggang baba,” Ramos added.

KMP said today’s protest at the Senate forms part of the buildup toward the Black Friday Protests against corruption and the broad mobilization on November 30, emphazising that dismantling of bureaucrat capitalism is essential to weed out corruption. ###
